FERVOR AND SPIRITUALITY
JEAN - SEBASTIEN BACH
Motet “Tilge, Höchster, Meine Sünden”
ANTONIO VIVALDI
Pergolese's Stabat mater is probably one of the more fascinating works in the history of music. Based on a liturgical text of the thirteenth century on the suffering of the Holy Mary, it quickly became famous throughout Europe. Bach magnified the work of Pergolese in his motet “Tilge, Höchster, Meine Sünden”, BWV 1083, the master piece of this program. To accompany this motet, some of the finest liturgical extracts of cantatas and passions of Antonio Vivaldi and Bach, in a sensual dialogue between the violin and the voice.
